Pretty deadly: flowers from the sengkuang / chinese turnip / jicama plants growing in #gasing. The only edible part is the root, everything else contains the toxin, rotenone, which is used to poison insects and fish. We're growing these next to a bed of cucumbers and we've noticed that whist the cucumbers attract many different pests, the sengkuang plant is so far pretty free from bug attacks. Point of the story: not everything pretty is safe to eat! #poisongarden #eatsshootsandroots @eatsshootsandroots https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotenone
