What is a Sayurday?
“I’ll grow, you’ll cook, and we’ll eat together”.
An all-new supperclub session bringing together local cooks and homegrown farmers! We’ll be taking on a new challenge in connecting chefs and farmers, with the goal to introduce chefs and diners to the world of organic produce and organic farming.
We want to champion the fresh produce of local organic farmers and chefs are the best people to do this as they have the best skills to bring these flavours to life.
About The Ingredients
The ingredients will be selected from produce grown at Ladybird Organic Farm, a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm — which is based on a structure whereby they obtain their steady revenue from a list of subscribers who pay a monthly fee and get a veggie box in return. It is a structure that offers farmers a protected system to be in the growing business, as they have a guaranteed stream of income even if they face typical farming issues such as crop-loss, and ensures that they are able to continue producing organic vegetables and not resort to using harmful pesticides and chemicals, just to keep afloat. At the same time, consumers can be assured of their produce being organically-produced.
We will also be featuring crayfish from local fish farm, Blue Aqua —
which started when their founder, Ashraf Fardzli started his own crayfish farm in his own house mid-2015. Back then, he wanted to challenge himself to see if he could build a valuable business based on sustainable and environmentally ethical sourcing practices. Today, he runs a 5 pond breeding and growing farm, and although there’s still a long way to go, the journey definitely has been interesting for this former engineer. The fish farm is located in Rawang, which is about 40 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur.
